PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Prepare biweekly payroll; sort paychecks before distribution to respective managers/shifts

-Receive questions and issues regarding payroll – handle/escalate as applicable

-Maintain employee paid time off status and points system

-Maintain personnel files and records, including attendance and time information, ensuring accuracy of paperwork

-Maintain I-9s in a separate and secure location – active and inactive

-Ensure security of confidential records and data

-Create new hire packets in advance of need

-Process employee new hire and change paperwork, and when implemented, maintain and update Human Resources Information System (HRIS)

-Receive incoming calls to HR Office, assist when appropriate

-Prepare performance reviews and distribute to managers to ensure timeliness of process

-Handle employee benefits administration, including enrollments, changes and terminations

-Assist with open enrollment process and any other employee related event planning

-Communicate with benefits vendors to resolve issues, as needed

-Process terminated employees in Payroll, Benefits and Building/System access along with other appropriate communication needed

-Reconcile employee benefit deductions with monthly statements from various benefits carriers

-Complete mandatory agency forms relative to garnishments, VOEs, wage verifications, Workers’ Comp claims, etc.

-Coordinate employment background checks and drug screens (pre-employment, just cause and post-accident)

-Assistance, as needed with Recruiting process (regular and contract labor)

-Compile and ongoing maintenance of OSHA records

-Ensure key areas of responsibilities are in compliance with appropriate regulations

-Respond to employee inquiries by phone or email and draft written responses when necessary

-Special projects as assigned, working independently and/or within a team

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Human Resources Manager, employees and company managers; vendors for benefits, temporary agency, payroll, etc.

SCOPE:

Handles role for NC Plant and other remote employees

WORKING CONDITIONS/SCHEDULE:

Work Schedule of Monday – Friday, 9am to 6pm

Must be able to work in an environment with varying levels of noise, dust and temperature fluctuations; due to nature of business, must be able to comply with Plant Safety and GMP regulations

Must be able to lift, push and/or pull up to 20 lbs.

Must be able to sit for extended periods of time with attention to a computer screen and/or printed document Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and move around plant as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

-Self-starter and/or team player with strong verbal, written, and communication skills

-Bilingual in Spanish required

-Courteous professional manner when interacting with all employees or handling conflicts

-Solid technology skills with ability to utilize and learn various types of technology; a quick learner with a can-do attitude

-Strategic, proactive thinker with the ability to work in a growth-oriented organization

-Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations while demonstrating poise, tact, and diplomacy

-Strong integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality

-Efficient and high standards of accuracy and organization in the performance of tasks

-Strong decision making skills and ability to prioritize work; effective time management skills

-Analytical and problem-solving skills to find solutions to various HR problems; good mathematical competency

-Strong knowledge of a manufacturing business

-Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, internet and email

-Ability to interact with all levels of the organization while maintaining strict confidentiality with regard to sensitive information

-Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment

 

Education

–  HS Diploma or equivalent required

–  Associates degree preferred

–  PHR certification preferred

–  1-3 years’ experience wanted in human resources, preferably in a manufacturing setting
